I loved this book
i loved this book! really original and unexpected. I got properly involved in little Simon's world, and was rooting for him on his adventures. Based on historical events, with plenty of imagination and creativity added, it is a book that could appeal to all ages and both men and women. Be adventurous and give it a go...
PS - Is their a side project in a book from the chief rat's viewpoint? Maybe he is misunderstood...!
Simon, a real cat, not a cartoon
Truthfully, at first I wasn't sure I would like this book as the story is told by a cat and it took me a few pages to get into it, but when I did, I was delighted. I'd not heard of Simon and his adventures, so learned something new about WWII and it must have taken quite a bit of research to produce this entertaining book. Simon is funny, realistic, and sad as I imagine all things related to war are. I do think most people will enjoy the book very much.
"Can't put down" read
This is a book that will not only appeal to cat lovers everywhere but also to adults and young readers who enjoy a "cant put down"read.Written through the eyes of Simon himself this book provides a unique experence to events leading up to and beyond what has come to be known as "the yangtze incident". This book should be on everybodys christmas list.
A great read
As a self confessed cat lover, I just had to get this book. A really surprising tale, and a great read. For everyone who thinks cats are aloof, then think again as Simon is the cat's whiskers! Put this one on your Christmas list, or buy it as a fab surprise for young and old - you'll be very popular if you do!
